Written by Mohamed Omar Hussein
Sunday, 20 July 2008

Hiran,(insidesomalia.org)-This conference is now in process at Janta Kundiche in the outskirts of Baladweyn town the headquarters of Hiraan region in central Somalia, and it is between the Ethiopian military officers and Baladweyn traditional elders.

So of the agendas discussed in the conference include how to alleviate the current tension in Hiran region particularly the headquarters Baladweyn town.

A lot Hiran inhabitants have fled from their house due to frequent fights between the Islamists and Ethiopian troops.

The trucks drivers who were using the road that links Hiran to Mudug region stooped the transportation of goods from Mogadishu passing Hiran towards Mudug due to serious search by the Ethiopian troops followed by punishments.

Close repots from Hiran traditional elders say that the one of the main point in their agenda is to advice the Ethiopian troops bombarding aimlessly at the mountainous areas where a lot of nomads live who are not in any way involved in the current politics of Somalia.

The reports also say that the other question the elders may ask the Ethiopian troops is why they have positioned themselves at Janata Kundich in the fringes of Baladweyn.

The Islamic Courts Union who were in control of Baladweyn town abandoned the town in the past couple, but are believed to be staying somewhere not far from the town.

The Somali transition federal government has earlier appointed a governor for the region and the whereabouts of the governor and his administration is believed to have crossed the boundary into Ethiopia.

Most of the residents of Baladweyn town fled the town after the Ethiopian troops fired rockets inside the town and on their side the Islamists dug trenches in the forefront of the town.
